Anti-reflective glass is a product of glass is designed to reduce the amount of surface reflection seen from the face of the glass. This type of glass diminishes the visual reflectance seen in normal clear glazing and creates a near invisible finish for glass installation. Anti-reflective coatings reduce reflectance up to 1%, thereby producing a much clearer glass finish.
Anti-reflective glass is made from low iron glass which is dipped in multiple solutions of metallic oxides. These solutions create a coating on all the faces of the glass, thereby preventing visual reflectance. Furthermore, these glasses find various applications in projector lenses, display windows and showrooms, interpreter cabins, VIP seating areas in stadiums and panorama restaurants, television and recording studios, facades, lobbies, and foyers.
The market witnesses strong demand owing to increase in utilization of these glasses in several end-use applications such as electronic products, architectural windows, telecommunications, automotive, and solar panels. Moreover, the high durability and better contrast definitions makes it suitable among automotive and solar industries. In addition, the ability of these glasses to diminish 70% to 80% of UV rays further boosts its industrial growth. Increase in demand for electronic devices and gadgets, rise in development of infrastructure in the developing economies such as India and China, and growth in in usage of passenger vehicles, high commercial vehicles (HCV) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) are also expected to further fuel the market growth. However, high costs involved in the production of these glasses is expected to hinder the market growth to some extent.
The report segments the antireflective glass market on the basis of type, application, end use, and geography. Based on type, it is divided into one-sided and two-sided. Based on application, the market is classified into LCD displays, architectural windows, front panel displays, electronic displays, and others (eyewear and solar panels).
