An electrochemical device called a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a device that converts fuel to electricity directly by oxidizing that fuel in an electrochemical reaction. SOFC uses a solid oxide electrolyte which conducts negative oxygen ion from the cathode to anode. SOFC’s operates at high temperature between 500- and 100-degree celsius. This operation at high temperature makes it suitable for increasing the fuel efficiency. This is made of four layers from which three layers are of ceramic. The ceramic used becomes electrically active when it reaches high temperature level. The rising government support for SOFC energy and increasing demand for energy efficient power generation is expected to drive the market in forecast period.
