Suction Tube Market Outlook - 2027

Suction tubes are used to remove debris and fluids from surgical sites. Suction is controlled by a thumb valve in the suction tube handle. Straight, angled, malleable styles are available in a variety of diameters. In medicine, devices are sometimes necessary to create suction. Suction may be used to clear the airway of blood, saliva, vomit, or other secretions so that a patient may breathe. Suctioning can prevent pulmonary aspiration, which can lead to lung infections. In pulmonary hygiene, suction is used to remove fluids from the airways, to facilitate breathing and prevent growth of microorganisms. In surgery suction can be used to remove blood from the area being operated on to allow surgeons to view and work on the area. Suction may also be used to remove blood that has built up within the skull after an intracranial haemorrhage. Suction tubes may be attached to mechanical hand pumps or battery or electrically operated mechanisms. In many hospitals and other health facilities, suction is typically provided by suction regulators, connected to a central medical vacuum supply by way of a pipeline system. The plastic, rigid Yank Auer suction tip is one type of tip that may be attached to a suction device. Another is the plastic, no rigid French or whistle tip catheter. Thus the suction tube has multiple application in medical field and is an essential in all procedures.

Covid-19 Scenario analysis:

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 213 countries and territories around the world. COVID-19 has created new challenges that are requiring manufacturers to innovate at speeds they never have before. Supply chain disruptions, social distancing on high-touch assembly lines, limited ability to travel, and the need for oversight add significant complexity to today’s processes. The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has created a global health crisis that has had a deep impact on the manufacturing market there is a shortage in supply of raw materials from Chinese manufacturers which has resulted in a severe demand-supply gap. The manufacturers are further expected to be stranded on raw material orders owing to the logistics industry being significantly impacted due to lockdown amid COVID-19. This has all affected the market adversely causing a slowdown in the suction tube market due to shortage of supply and manufacturing.

Top impacting factors: Market Scenario Analysis, Trends, Drivers and Impact analysis:

Drivers:

Increased surgeries because of geriatric population:

The population is expanding and aging. According to the US Census Bureau, the domestic population will increase 7.9% by 2010, and 17.0% by 2020. The fastest growing segment of this population consists of individuals over the age of 65; their numbers are expected to increase 13.3% by 2010 and 53.2% by 2020. Two main factors are responsible for these forecasts. First, are living longer; life expectancy has increased from 66.7 years for individuals born in 1946 to 76.1 years for those born in 1996. Second, the baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) are a wave of population density that will begin to hit retirement age in 2011. Older individuals require more medical services relative to their younger counterparts. The National Hospital Discharge Survey (NHDS) reported that in 1999, patients aged 65 years or older comprised 12% of the population, but constituted 40% of hospital discharges and 48% of days of inpatient care. As the proportion of elderly patients in the population increases, the medical system is facing new challenges. The last decade has been notable for a perception of balance with regard to the physician supply relative to demand. Toward evaluating this hypothesis, there has been employed an approach based upon historical patterns of care. Data from national surveys of medical and surgical services were used to establish a profile of age-specific rates of surgical use thus increase in surgeries results in the increase of requirement for Suction tube in various surgeries thus expanding Suction tube market growth.

Multiple clinical application:

The clinician sometimes wants to remove a fluid such as blood very quickly and a removal rate of about 8 l. /min (1 pint in 4 sec) is needed to cover the likely clinical requirements. Suction is widely used in clinical practice. In the past, a great deal of interest has been shown in methods of producing suction, many involving ingenious principles (Brodie, 1941; Aitken, 1949; Carr, 1949). Yet the criteria by which the most suitable apparatus for a particular purpose is judged seem to have received surprisingly little attention. Nor have the factors governing the most satisfactory use of an apparatus always been clearly understood. Many suckers are available commercially, but it is not always easy to translate the data supplied by the manufacturer into terms readily understood by the clinician. The size of the connecting tubing and suction catheters and the physical characteristics of the fluid to be aspirated greatly influence the performance of a sucker, and limitations imposed by these may far overshadow any supposed deficiencies in the sucker mechanism. Suction is the flow created by lowering the pressure at one end of a tube. If the other end is open to the atmosphere, then the greatest pressure difference that can be produced is one atmosphere. By convention, pressures lower than atmospheric are called "negative”. The suction tubes are designed for removing small amounts of secretions from the nose, throat or ears. They are made of glass and are fitted to a suction pump. Near the angle the glass is blown into a bulb into which the secretion will run. Just beyond the angle is a small hole so that even though the pump is turned on no suction is created until this hole is closed by the finger. In order to clean the tubes, water is run through them and then the excess of secretion is cleaned out by attaching the tube to the compressed air apparatus. If this does not succeed, one may start suction and thus draw water through them until they are perfectly clean. These tubes are readily boiled and are more durable. The above application and variability of the suction tube is main driver for market.
