An air-start system is a power source used to provide initial rotation to start large diesel and gas turbine engines. Unlike electric starters, which generally creates sparks and need expensive, and sometimes unreliable batteries, air starters are powered by compressed air. It provides a completely safe and reliable energy source while eliminating all possibilities of electrical ignition.
