Automotive knock sensor is fastened into the engine block or cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. It is used to detect knocking in the combustion chamber of an automotive engine. Knock sensors consist of piezoelectric elements, which produce an electric signal based on vibrations caused by detonation. The engine uses this signal to retard timing when a spark knock occurs.
