Carrageenan is an additive and a natural ingredient derived from red seaweed or Irish moss that is used to caramelize, thicken, and preserve food & beverages. It is a soluble fiber that makes certain foods more nutritious by assisting low-sugar and low-fat options and tastes as good as their counterparts for sugars. Carrageenan finds its application in are yogurt, meat products, and nut milk. In addition, soy milk, hemp milk, deli meats, chocolate milk, cottage cheese, non-dairy desserts, vegan cheeses, and coconut milk are common sources of readily available carrageenan.
