Centrifuges help in the separation of two different substances, which have a difference in their densities. They can also be essentially used to separate densities with almost indistinguishable densities. Additionally, they can be used to separate insoluble particulates in a solution. It uses sedimentation principle to work, which is centripetal force is caused when the rotor is sped up and affects the centrifuge tubes as well. This results in throwing out the denser substance away from the radial direction. Ultimately, the lighter particles travel toward the radial direction, which is toward the center. Some particles remain at the bottom of the tube during the process. They are called pellets; the other clarified solutions which are at the top of the tube are called supernatant.
COVID-19 scenario analysis:
Increase in frequencies and rise in cases of disease; upgrades in technology; rise in R & D activities along with their funding in the field of biotechnology and life sciences; and introduction of new products are the major factors propelling the growth of the centrifuge market.
The adoption rate is increasing, thereby directly affecting the betterment of various automatic techniques and improving investments in both public and private healthcare. The demand has also risen for centrifuges, which propels the growth and development of ultracentrifuges, microcentrifuges, and multi-purpose centrifuges.
Various manufacturers have been working for the betterment of life science instruments market and helping in the growth of research and development activities to meet the need of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. As centrifuge equipment are very important and used on a large scale in various laboratories they are boosting the research and development activities.
On the other hand, centrifuges are pretty expensive and any scratch or cracks on the tubes can result in replacements. Additionally, there has been rise in the lifetime of centrifuges, which impacts the sales of centrifuges.
On May 15th, 2018, Eppendorf introduced two centrifuges, Centrifuge 5425 and 5910 R. On December 2nd, 2016, Thermo Fischer launched Sorvall BP 8 and 16 blood banking centrifuges.
Hospitals, biotechnology & pharmaceutical companies, and academic & research institutes are the major consumers of the centrifuge market. Among them, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals are the biggest end-users of the centrifuge market.
