Diagnostic ultrasound also known as sonography, is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to non-invasively image internal organs within the body. It aids in detection of the source any disease and medical abnormalities, thus assists in therapeutics. Ultrasound images are presented various forms including 2D, 3D, or 4D. Ultrasound is extensively used during pregnancy, primarily to monitor the growth and development of the fetus and then to image of the heart, blood vessels, thyroid, brain, breast, abdominal organs, skin, and muscle tissues.
