Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is primarily used is diagnosis of the progression of lung cancer, its stages and assessment of further possible spread of the diseases to neighbouring body parts including lymph nodes. Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) technique has modernized over the time and enables the pulmonologists to sample tissues as well as fluid obtained from lungs and adjacent lymph nodes to visualize the structure surrounding the tracheobronchial tree. Â The EBUS and endobronchial ultrasound-assisted transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS TBNA) are recently developed advanced techniques and show promising results in evaluation of pulmonary nodules, and diagnosis of lung infections.
