Foliar is a method of feeding plants by applying liquid fertilizer to their leaves. Foliar fertilizer is a liquid fertilizer applied directly on leaves of plants. This method is very useful as fertilizers come in direct contact with plants, so plant absorb nutrients through their epidermis and stomata. Foliar fertilizers are available in powdered form and are sprayed on leaves of plant to improve crop conditions and agricultural yield. The solid form of foliar fertilizers dissolves slowly in water, so it should be carefully handled as high concentration can burn seedlings and low concentration have poor effect. 

There are mainly three types of foliar fertilizers such as nutrient-type foliar fertilizer, bio-type foliar fertilizer, and compound foliar fertilizer. The nutrient-type foliar fertilizer contains large amount of nutrient such as N, P, K, and trace element. Its main function is to provide a variety of nutrients for crops. The bio-type foliar fertilizer contains metabolites and microbial body, such as nucleic acid, nucleotides and amino acids substances which provide function as promote crop metabolism, stimulate crop growth etc. The compound foliar fertilizer has wide variety of foliar fertilizers, which can stimulate growth regulation & development and provide nutrition. It acts as an effective soil conditioner and provides efficient nutrient absorption and crop yield. Foliar fertilizers provide higher resistance to various hormones, pests, and insects. It helps enhance the water holding capacity of the soil and is considered as an additional supplement that boosts the crop health.
