 A relay is a special category of electrically operated switch that consists of a set of input terminals and a set of operating contact terminals. This switch can control an electrical circuit by opening and closing contacts in another circuit. A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning relay (HVAC relay) is used to control and regulate the operations of an HVAC system by manipulating a high powered circuit with the help of a low power signal. The relays work by applying voltage to the relay coil that stops a relay based on the arrangement, which then again goes back to the original form, i.e., closes or opens the main circuit. It is used to control the machines related to air conditioning, heating, and the ventilation systems including the compressor and blower motor by turning them on and off when required during the operations and thereby saving more energy.
