Hydrogel dressings is a process of regulating fluid exchange on wound surface and have been used in the treatment of both acute and chronic wounds. These dressings are made from synthetic polymers, usually polyvinyl pyrrolidine and methacrylate. They contain more than 90% of the water with glycerin or aloe as a base. In addition, it holds moisture on the surface of a wound and provides sodium for electrolyte balance. Few, hydrogels are integrated with coolant properties and helps in pain reduction, cooling effect at the wound site, debridement of the wound, and granules are used on minor burns, painful wounds, dry wounds, radiation damage and others. Moreover, it provides an ideal environment for wound cleansing of autolytic debridement. In addition, it provides moist environment for wound healing and hydrogel is used in the treatment of radiation damage, acute burns, dry wounds, and others.
