Inert gas generator system is a gas generator system that produces gases having less than 5 % oxygen in it. IGGS burns fuel to create exhaust gas, which in turn passes through scrubbers to pass cleaning. Inert gas has very low concentration of oxygen making it ideal for suppressing combustion of flammable hydrocarbon gases or fuels. Inert gas system spreads the inert gas over the mixture of oil cargo hydrocarbon creating a barrier between oxygen rich air and fuel to prevent explosion.
