Jaw crusher is heavy-duty equipment, which is majorly used for crushing large sized rocks into smaller rocks, rock dust, or gravel. A typical jaw crusher has a pair of vertical jaws in V shape where one jaw is fixed and other jaw is moving. Movable jaw moves with respect to fixed jaw in forward and backward direction with the help of a cam or pitman mechanism. It compresses the material against the fixed jaw,  which results into the crushing of material to the desired size. After the material is crushed to desired size, it is discharged at the bottom of the machine through discharge opening. Changing the size of discharge opening controls the crushed material size.

Jaw crusher finds its major application in construction & demolition, metallurgy, mining, water conservation, waste management. These equipment are powered by gas motors or diesel engines. They maybe stationary or portable and track-mounted.

Increase in construction and mining activities in the developing and the developed countries such as Russia, the U.S., the UK, India, and Brazil has boosted the growth of the global jaw crushers market. In addition, rise in adoption of automationby industries such as mining, construction, recycling, and waste management activities has fueled the demand for jaw crushers, globally. Moreover, availability of different sizes and capacitiesof jaw crushers has positively impacted the growth of the market. Furthermore, jaw crushers are convenient to use and easy to maintain, owing to its simple structure. They can be customized according to user requirement, which makes them the most preferred choice for crushing as compared to other category of crushers.

However, factors that hamper the growth of jaw crushers market include fluctuation inprices of spare parts & other raw materials, limited capacity of feeders, high noise & vibrations during operation and lower productivity. In addition, low availability of skilled manpower to operate and maintain jaw crushers is a challenge faced by industries, which retains the growth of the market.

On the contrary, innovations and advancements in technologies such as industrial automation, IoT, and Industry 4.0 are anticipated to offer remunerative opportunity for the expansion of the global market. Moreover, new product launches and improvement inthe current product portfolio are the key strategies, which manufacturers are adopting to meet the growing customer needs. For instance, in January 2019, Keestrack N.V. exhibited their entire product range for providing crushing solutions to mineral recycling and quarrying at E-mobility exhibition held at Bauma. These products are energy-efficient, as they are powered by hybrid engines, which usediesel and electricity. Similarly, in August 2019, Terex Corporation, operating in North Ireland, announced the launch of its new jaw crushing range under the brand name, Powerscreen. Furthermore, in September 2019, Metso Corporation launched a new range of crusher wear parts, which ensures smooth crushing operations and provides optimum balance between performance, secured fit, and affordability. Recent development includes mergers and acquisitions to expand the customer reach and improve product portfolio. For instance, in September 2018, McCloskey International, operating in Canada, acquired U.S.-based Lippmann-Milwaukee. This acquisition helped McCloskey International to strengthen its product portfolio to cater the customer requirements in the U.S. market.

The global jaw crusher market is segmented into product type, pivoting position, end-user industry, and region. By product type, the market is bifurcated into single toggle jaw crusher and double toggle jaw crusher. On the basis of pivoting position, it is classified as universal, blake, and dodge. Depending on end-user industry, it is segregated into manufacturing, construction, demolition, mining, aggregate, and waste recycling. Region wise, it is analyzed across North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and LAMEA.
