Welding is a process which is widely used in the manufacturing industry for joining of two components. Different types of materials can be joined with other by using welding process. Laser welding is one of the important welding methods which are currently being used in the industry. The materials such as thermoplastics can easily be weld by using laser welding method and this process is generally known as laser plastic welding process. This process is more commonly employed in the automotive industry when there is need of high volume welding of the plastic components.

Laser plastic welding process is also called as through transmission welding process. The laser plastic welding process is not similar to the other metal welding processes. In laser plastic welding process, laser radiations re used so as to join the two plastic parts. In this process, different types of lasers such as fiber lasers, diode lasers, ND: YAG lasers and CO2 lasers are used for the generation of laser radiation. In the laser plastic welding process, a focused laser beam is passed through the upper surface of the component or a part which is to be welded. Then that laser light is converted to the heat energy. The other part which is under the first part absorbs the heat which is generated. Because of the heat which is generated at the surface of the component molten weld seam is created and two parts are joined together.Â
There are many ways by using which laser welding process can be performed. These ways includes the processes such as intermediate film welding, through transmission laser welding, laser surface heating anddirect laser welding. Laser welding process can also be used for the joining of the plastic parts with the metals parts. Laser assisted metal plastic joining (LAMP) is the most widely used process in the industries to join the metal and the plastics. It is preferred over the conventional welding methods because of the advantages it provides such as high quality weld appearance, low residual stresses and high joining speeds. LAMP process is commonly used in the medical and automotive applications. Â Â Â

These new products are more efficient and effective in their performance and are widely used in the industry.

This could be difficult for conventional welding machines but by using laser plastic welding machine plastic and metal components can easily be weld. Hence, the demand for laser plastic welding is expected to rise during the forecast period.
Also, the growth of the automotive industry could be the key driving factor for the growth of laser plastic welding market, as this process is widely employed in the automotive industry.
New technologies have been used in the laser welding machines. This gives more improved performance of the machine. But use of advanced technology also increases the cost of the machines, as these are sometimes costly to use and also requires trained workers. Hence, this could restrain some companies to use advanced laser welding machines.Â
