Membrane pumps are part of the positive displacement pump family. An air motor propels them forward. The compressed air that is injected into the air chambers behind the membranes is used to move two membranes that are connected by a pump shaft back and forth. When the membrane reaches its end position, the air displacement procedure is initiated automatically by a control valve. The pumps can handle clean liquids with low viscosity as well as viscous abrasive liquids with large solids.
