Nanofiltration Membranes Market Overview:

Global Nanofiltration Membranes Market was valued at $565 million in 2016, and is expected to reach at $813 million by 2023, registering a CAGR of 5.3% from 2017 to 2023. Nanofiltration is low to moderately high pressure (50-450 psig) procedure, which allows monovalent ions to pass freely through the membrane but retains divalent ions (calcium) and divalent salts (sodium sulfate). Nanofiltration membranes are manufactured in various formats including plate & frame, tubular, spiral wound, capillary, and hollow fiber from a wide range of materials including polymers, ceramics, and organic/inorganic hybrids. Use of these membranes dramatically reduces the operating costs due to lower power (pumping) requirement. These membranes have longer lifetime as compared to the other membranes due to their tolerance to cleaning cycles and increased stability. Nanofiltration membranes are primarily utilized in water & waste water treatment industry for softening of fresh water, desalination pretreatment, and waste wastewater treatment & reclamation. They are also utilized for degumming of solutions in edible oil processing industry for continuous cheese production, and in manufacturing of alternative sweeteners.

Rise in demand for potable water & reduced freshwater sources and environmental restrictions on municipal & industrial wastewater discharges are primary factors that drive the nanofiltration membranes market. Rapid industrialization in emerging economies, economic development, and increase in population in areas facing water scarcity are other factors, which supplement market growth. Nanofiltration (NF) membranes market is fairly fragmented and includes decent number of suppliers.
