Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a type of fluoropolymer formed by polymerization process of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) monomer. PTFE compound is consisting of fluorine and carbon with high molecular weight. It is non-flammable, waxy, tough, strong, flexible, and non-resilient, and serves as an excellent insulator. It is non-reactive and has enhanced chemical resistance, due to which it is widely used in pipe & containers of reactive and corrosive chemicals. Furthermore, PTFE is used in electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and food industries due to its high surface lubricity and anti-blocking properties.
