The post-tensioning systems market size was valued at $9,925.0 million in 2020, and is expected to reach $22,260.3 million by 2030, registering a CAGR of 8.7% from 2021 to 2030. Post-tensioning is a method in which the tendons are tensioned after the concrete has hardened and the force is primarily transferred to the concrete through the end anchorages. Use of post-tensioning enables thinner concrete sections, longer spans between supports, stiffer walls to resist lateral loads, and stiffer foundations to resist the effects of shrinking and swelling soils. There are many benefits of post-tensioning in construction that includes flexibility of design, faster construction program and lower material costs.

The post-tensioning systems market was initially hampered owing to restrictions on construction activities during lockdown. In addition, manufacturing of elements used in post-tensioning systems was also affected during the period. However, the market started recovering as lockdown restrictions were uplifted.

Post-tensioning system provides enhanced strength and sustainability in the structure that is being built. Post-tensioning systems are gaining high traction across the globe, as they aid in enhancing the service life and strength of the structure. Thus, large-scale projects are using post-tensioning technology. For instance, high-rise construction schemes in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and UAE are integrating post-tensioning systems in majority of newly constructed infrastructures.
