Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS)is an active imaging technique for obtaining real time data of very large to very small objects & areas in the short time. Terrestrial scanning laser technique works similar to sonar or radar; however, TLS uses light, hence, also called LiDAR (light detection and ranging). Terrestrial laser scanning systems works on the principle similar to electronic distance measuring instruments (EDMI), which involves firing of a laser beam from transmitter and captured the reflected laser beam from receiver.
