Tissue is a universal term which indicates a class of paper which is characterized as gauzy in texture, and, in some cases, fairly transparent. It may be glazed, unglazed, or creped, and is used for different purposes. Tissue paper or simply called tissue is a lightweight paper, or crêpe paper which is light in weight. Tissue is made from recycled paper pulp. Tissue paper is produced on a machine that has a single large steam heated drying cylinder called Yankee dryer which is fitted with a hot air hood. The raw material used is paper pulp. Yankee cylinder is sprayed with certain adhesives to make the paper stick. Creping is done by the Yankee's doctor blade which includes scraping the dry paper off the cylinder surface. The crinkle (crêping) is managed by the strength of the adhesive, geometry of the doctor blade, speed difference between the Yankee and final section of the paper machine and paper pulp characteristics. Tissue paper products, which include paper towels and toilet paper, play an important role in modern life. They contribute to improved hygiene, comfort and convenience in our society. Tissue paper products are highly engineered to provide strength, ultra-light weight, softness and absorbency, all at the same time.
COVID-19 Impact analysis
Top Impacting Factors
The tissue paper making machine industry growth is variable region to region due to various factors such as availability of raw materials, environmental impacts, and income levels. Tissue paper consumption is at unsustainable levels and globally it is steadily increasing, particularly in Asia, while remaining at unequal levels of access in some parts of the world, particularly Africa. Asia-Pacific is expected to witness the highest growth rate during the forecast year due to rise in disposable incomes, improving standards of living, rapid industrialization, and globalization in emerging economies like China, Japan, and India. Flourishing tourism and hospitality industry and increase in population of working-class globally coupled with the rise in awareness among consumers related to health & hygiene is expected to drive the growth of the global tissue paper market. All these factors together contribute to the rise in demand of the tissue paper making machines in the market.
Technology has a strong impact on the marketing strategy in terms of collect, handle, interchange, communicate, analyse, personalise and customise information, leading to cost reductions, more effective marketing procedures and improved customer satisfaction. For instance, established in the year 2013, we, Bharath Machines, a company based in Vadodara, India started to manufacture soft electric tissue paper making machine of 240 v which is fully automatic and thus has greatly helped in manufacturing tissue papers with decreased man power and also in short time.
Increase in demand for special soft tissue papers to cater to infant needs has also escalated the need for tissue paper making machines all across the globe. For instance, The Procter & Gamble Company an American multinational consumer goods corporation headquartered in Cincinnati, is one of the key manufacturers in infant tissue making companies which has led to an increase in the tissue making machines as well.
Consolidation is a clear trend in the European tissue industry. Consolidation occurs when two companies combine to form a new enterprise altogether, eliminating competition and creating broader economies of scale or scope. For instance, AstenJohnson, headquartered in Charleston, SC in the U.S., on April 2019 merged with Heimbach, their paper making machines.
Research and development (R&D) includes activities that companies undertake to innovate and introduce new products and services. It is often the first stage in the development process. The goal is typically to take new products and services to market and add to the company's bottom line. Thus research and development is one of the important business strategies in expanding business operations. For instance, water removal on a tissue machine is a bit more difficult and thus led to the manufacturing of Suction box dewatering and paper testing, Nord. Research in wet pressing has gained a lot of attention in the past.
